It used to be that when the media wanted to follow up on a news story or book a guest on a show, the show's booker would contact the source's "people" to engage.

An aside on this: when the whole @ThatKevinSmith, @SouthwestAir exchange was going on, @SouthwestAir tweeted Mr. Smith, asking that he "follow" them so that they could "direct message" him (odd that they'd think there was anything they could do to make amends in a 140 character format). I applaud Mr. Smith for keeping their exchange transparent so that everyone could see how the airline responded.
